Colonel Paula Z Jones Edwards (Ret.) – Discussion on Post Traumatic Syndrome

Colonel Paula Z Jones Edwards (Ret.) joined the U.S. Army in 1985 and graduated from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at University of Illinois Chicago in June 1985 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant at the age of 20. COL Jones Edwards received a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois Chicago, and a Masters of Education degree from Concordia University in River Forest, IL.

Currently, she serves as a public affairs consultant with U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulations Training and Instrumentation. Her final military assignment was the Assistant Chief of Staff G-1 for the 87th Support Command in Birmingham, AL. She oversaw Human Resource actions for 5,000 Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians in 24-states. She has commanded from Company to Battalion level and retired July 2015.

Other assignments include: Chief of Strength Management for the Office of the Chief of Army Reserves, Chief of Public Affairs at Division, Regional Support Command, Army Central Command Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq and Kuwait) and Operation Joint Forge (Bosnia, Hungary and Croatia)

Her decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with 3-Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal 3-Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal 2-Oak Leaf Clusters, NATO Medal and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. COL Jones Edwards is a Distinguished Member of the Adjutant General’s Corp Regimental Association and was awarded The Major General Horatio Gates Bronze Medal for distinguished service to the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association, the Adjutant General’s Corps and Army Human Resources Community. Colonel Jones resides in Orlando, Florida.

Now that her military service is complete, she enjoys exercising including boxing, Orange Theory, cycling, running, walking, swimming, reading, church activities and golf. She works with Little Linksters Jr. Golf as a tournament director, Fairways for Warriors as an instructor and Tee-Lo Jr. Golf Board of Directors Vice-Chairman.
